What to Confirm Before Making a Custom Lighting Sample
The essential details that help reduce revisions when turning a reference image or drawing into a physical sample.
Define what must match
A reference image may communicate the overall look, but it does not define every production detail. Identify which elements are essential: proportion, finish tone, shade material, mounting method, control position or another visible feature.
Separate non-negotiable design requirements from details that can be adjusted to improve feasibility or cost.
Add the electrical and market requirements
Provide the destination market, voltage, plug type, lamp holder and any specific control or USB configuration. These requirements should be discussed before the sample is assembled.
If certification or testing is required, state it at the beginning so the suitable supplier and component route can be evaluated.
Agree on how the sample will be reviewed
Confirm which photos, measurements and functional checks should be recorded. After the physical sample is reviewed, consolidate comments into one revision list to keep communication clear.
The production schedule should only be confirmed after the sample scope and final project quantity are understood.
